Collection societies around the world have different rules and processes for paying royalties.

Usually, collection societies will hold back some of the money they collect to distribute to writers and publishers that register their music months or years after a track has been played on radio or TV. It’s therefore likely that you’ll be paid royalties for these uses of your music.

Unfortunately, most collection societies are currently unable to ‘back-claim’ royalties from streaming and download services. It’s therefore unlikely that you will receive royalties for any streams or downloads of your music generated before you joined Ditto Music Publishing.

Collection societies are working collaboratively with streaming and download services to find a solution to this very complex problem.
